The Montney Formation, Alberta Canada
For this project in the Montney Formation, HydrEra operated in two separate field locations. A total of 53,000 m³ of fluid was transferred and 6 pumping stations were used.
The DJ Basin is a formation that is abundant in crude oil and natural gas. However, the scarcity of water in the area and the significant amounts required for the extraction process make freshwater storage a critical component. Our freshwater storage solutions provide a dependable and steady supply of freshwater.
In this project, we utilized our innovative HydrEra Harpoon tanks. These tanks offer superior head pressure and flow, eliminating the need for on-site transfer pumps to provide fluids to the frac. This resulted in improved efficiency and ES&G for the client, without any reported incidents or spills.

During the Beetaloo Basin project, two of our ASTs were set up to hold and evaporate flowback. As per the customer’s request these tanks were set up during night shift due to extreme heat conditions.
For the Vaca Muerta Formation project, Our ASTs were set up on a HydrEra-supplied fully enclosed secondary containment. The tanks also included wildlife protection and leak detection systems.
Our newly designed HydrEra Harpoon tanks were used for the project in the DJ Basin. The Harpoon tank offers excellent head pressure and flow, eliminating the need for on site transfer pumps to provide fluid to the frac.
For this project we provided flowback storage on 7 different locations, pumping through underground and overland pipelines and truck offload stations. It was a complete field operation moving flowback to support the fracture operation.
